Most Followed Threads Accounts in 2026

Jun 7, 2026 · Updated Jun 10, 2026 · 4 min read

Wondering who leads Threads in 2026? Here’s the snapshot — and, because follower counts shift constantly, a live ranking that stays current after every static listicle has gone stale.

The top of the board, June 2026

When we pulled the numbers on June 10, 2026, the picture at the top looked like this:

  • @instagram is the biggest account on the platform at 37.2M followers — fittingly, since every Threads account is born from an Instagram one.
  • Neymar Jr is the most-followed individual at 25.1M, comfortably ahead of Selena Gomez (20.7M) and Kylie Jenner (19.1M).
  • Real Madrid (18.5M) is the biggest sports organisation, with National Geographic and Kim Kardashian close behind in the 17M range.
  • The ten biggest accounts combined reach over 200 million followers.

Those exact figures will have moved by the time you read this — which is the point. The live global leaderboardre-ranks from current public data on every visit, with exact counts rather than the app’s rounded ones.

Who’s notably missing

Several of Instagram’s biggest names have no Threads account at all— Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi among them. Instagram’s #1 and #2 most-followed people simply never joined, which is why lists that copy Instagram rankings onto Threads get it wrong. (It also means any “Ronaldo” you find on Threads is a fan account — see how to spot a fake Threads account.)

Why a live list beats a static one

Threads follower counts move for three reasons: ordinary growth, unfollows, and Meta’s periodic purges of spam accounts, which can visibly dent even mega accounts overnight. A listicle written in January is reliably wrong by June. Every ranking here links to a full profile with the exact follower count, recent posts, and an engagement estimate — no login required.
