Who Can See Your Threads Profile? (Public vs Private)

Jun 9, 2026 · 2 min read

If your Threads account is public— the default for most adults — your profile is visible far beyond the app. Here’s who can see what, and how to check your own footprint.

What’s visible on a public profile

  • Your name, username, photo, bio, and verified status
  • Your follower count
  • Your posts, replies, and reposts — with their like counts

This is visible to logged-in users, to people without any account via tools like ThreadLook, and to search engines — public Threads posts can appear in Google results.

What stays hidden no matter what

Nobody can see who you follow privately interact with: Threads never reveals who viewed your profile (see can people see who viewed your Threads?), and your likes aren’t shown as a public list on your profile.

Private accounts

Switching to private (Settings → Privacy) hides your posts from everyone except approved followers. Your name, photo, bio, and follower count remain visible, but posts disappear from logged-out view, search engines, and viewer tools alike.

Check what strangers see

The fastest reality check: look yourself up on ThreadLook. Whatever appears there is exactly what any stranger on the internet can see without logging in. If that’s more than you expected, tighten your settings.
