@pixar Finn McMissile was originally conceived for “Cars,” as a character in a spy film that Lightning McQueen and Sally watch while on a date at a drive-in movie theater. While that scene was cut, the Director never forgot the character and so revived Finn McMissile for the action-packed spy story in “Cars 2.”

Ka-Chow! Lighting McQueen has a V-8 engine, 750 horsepower, rear wheel drive, and his top speed is 200 mph, 0-60 in 4.5 seconds.
Mater is named after a “real life” person that the crew met in Charlotte, North Carolina during their research trip. The “Real Mater” then voiced one the RVs on “Redneck Hill” during the opening race sequence.
#84 car that Lighting McQueen passes in the opening race is the Apple Car. 1984 is the year the Apple computer was first released.
The flame pattern on Wingo was inspired by a wild shirt pattern of one of our Technical Directors. Wingo is voiced by Adrian Ochoa who was a Pixar Story Coordinator.
Miss Fritter is a local legend and formidable Crazy 8 racer at Thunder Hollow Speedway, known for collecting her victims’ license plates, with 33 hanging from her school bus.
Rusty and Dusty are voiced by NPR’s Car Talk hosts Ray and Tom Magliozzi, who each chose their brother’s car model.
Fillmore’s license plate, 51237, represents May 12, 1937, which is the birthdate of George Carlin who voices this character.
