How to download a Threads video
- 01
Copy the post link
In the Threads app, tap the share (paper-plane) icon under the post and choose Copy link. On the web, copy the URL from the address bar.
- 02
Paste it above
Paste the link into the box and press Download. The link looks like threads.com/@username/post/ABC123.
- 03
Save the file
Each video or photo in the post gets its own Download button. Videos save as MP4, photos as full-size JPG.
How it works
Threads has no save button for videos, and the app blocks long-press saving on photos. Every public post, though, is published with its media attached for search engines and link previews. ThreadLook reads that public data for the link you paste, finds the original video stream and full-size images, and hands them to you as normal file downloads. It works for videos, single photos and carousels from any public account, with no login and no watermark. Looking for an avatar instead? Use the profile picture downloader .
Frequently asked questions
- How do I download a video from Threads?
- Open the post in the Threads app or website, tap the share icon and choose Copy link. Paste that link into the box above and press Download. ThreadLook reads the post's public media and gives you a direct download button for the video file (MP4) and any photos.
- Does this work for photos and carousels too?
- Yes. Single photos, multi-image carousels and videos are all supported. Every item in a carousel gets its own download button, at the original resolution Threads publishes.
- Do I need to log in or install an app?
- No. Nothing to install and no Threads account needed. ThreadLook fetches the post's public data on demand, so it works on any phone or desktop browser.
- Does the post owner know I downloaded their video?
- No. Threads doesn't reveal who viewed or saved a post, and ThreadLook never interacts with the account. Downloads are anonymous.
- Why does it say the post couldn't be found?
- The post is from a private account, was deleted, or the link isn't a post link. Only public posts can be downloaded. Make sure the link looks like threads.com/@username/post/… and not just a profile URL.
- Is downloading Threads videos legal?
- Saving a public post for personal use is generally fine, but the content still belongs to its creator. Don't re-upload or use someone's video commercially without permission.
